Sports Handicapping Analysis

I don't claim to be an expert when it comes to sports handicapping analysis. In fact when I bet I consider it an investment and not a gamble, because I know most of my bets will win. I tell you why later.
There is no such thing as a sure thing though and if you see anyone using the term 'lock' for one of their bets then run a mile because they just want your money. Over the long haul though I have won consistently.
The most important thing about betting is to have in mind which team you think will win.
In terms of sports handicapping analysis there are two approaches.
SUBSTANTIVE
This involves research delving deep into the teams playing and only covers that specific game. The idea is to weigh in the factors, the strengths and weakness of each team, what each team must do to try and win, and to pick who will impose themselves on the game and why. Sometimes people do all this and rely on their 'gut' in the end.
This method is more subjective and uses more of the human factors like who wants it more and who needs it more.
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS
This type of sports handicapping analysis involves less subjectivity and is more about looking at trends. It doesn't matter what the sport is the trends have been mapped out by statisticians who look at past history and use it to calculate probability. The objectivity and precision appeals to a lot of people because they don't have to use their knowledge and hence they can blame the system if they lose.
The biggest problem with trends is that they can be used to prove just about anything. Some trends will suggest a team will cover the spread and others suggest they won't, you have to choose. The point is maybe a rookie pitcher has won only 45%of his starts but that doesn't mean the figure wont change in the future. That's what sports handicapping analysis tries to do, predict the future.
The main thing about sports handicapping analysis is that if you have a system that suits you and provides you with winners then go for it and use it. Just like I have. Click the link below to find out more.
